Weekly Update: New Series starts Sunday!

Dear Faithbridgers and Friends,

“I actually slept for a patch of four hours! Thank you, Lord!”

Those were my first words this morning, upon rolling over and looking at the clock. Since Christmas I’ve awakened every hour or two, exchanging sweat-soaked pillowcases for dry ones. The doctor had me do a chest X-ray, and everything became clear: I caught viral pneumonia early in the holidays. It stays with you awhile, and the rebound is frustratingly longer than with a normal cold. So you keep having chills, sweats, fevers, headaches, painful coughs, irritability, and fatigue.

Several nights ago, I sensed the Lord reminding me that sometimes He makes us lie down in green pastures (Psalm 23:2). Having extra time for reflection, let me share with you two ways I’ve changed: (1) I’ve grown to have a more profound (and prayerful) admiration for those of you persevering through longer and more chronic diseases, and (2) I’ve grown to realize how many little things I take for granted, like a normal night’s sleep.

Both of these have brought me into a deeper dimension of prayerfulness, and I’ve had several extra meaningful times of meeting with the Lord in the middle of the nights.

With help from those in the church office, let me update you about several things pertaining to this coming Sunday:

  1. We’re kicking off the New Year with a new series on the cultural epidemic of anxiety. Each year more and more people are drowning in the overwhelming stress of finances, work, and relationships. Kids, teens and adults – no one is exempt. But God did not intend for us to live this way, and there is hope! Join us as Pastor Dan opens this important series.
  2. New worship service times begin: 9:15 • 11am • 5pm
  3. First Food Sunday: Food donations collected at Faithbridge this week will be distributed directly to local food pantries.

I hope you’ll make plans to come – and invite someone today to come with you.

With joy serving Christ as your pastor,
Ken
