Celebrating Child Believer Baptism

10.08.15 | Kids Ministry, Articles

Baptism is a way that your child can show publicly that he/she has decided to follow Jesus. Child believer baptism is available for older elementary children who has accepted Jesus. The child and at least one parent must attend and complete a Child's Believer Baptism Class to be eligible for the Baptism Celebration.

Here are some things to talk about with your child.

    Why should I be baptized?

Jesus was baptized and we want to be like Jesus in every way that we can.Mark 1:9

Jesus told us to be baptized. Matthew 28:19

    What does baptism symbolize?

It illustrates when Jesus died, was buried, and rose again. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

When we are baptized we are lowered into the water.  When we come up out of the water this symbolizes our sins being washed away because we believe that Jesus died for us so that we can be forgiven. Ephesians 3:9

What does my baptism tell other people about me?

By being baptized, we show that we believe in Jesus and that we want to live our lives for Him.  It shows we are beginning our new life as a Christian.  2 Corinthians 5:17

What happens when I sin again?

The Bible tells us that when we confess (say) our sins in prayer that Jesus will forgive us.  It also tells us that if we have hurt someone else we should ask them for forgiveness too.

What if my child wants to be baptized?

We celebrate children’s baptism in a special service designed just for them.  Prior to the baptism celebration you and your child will attend a class where we will talk about salvation and baptism.
