Summary of Position

The Lighting Specialist focuses on designing and implementing systems and processes to help Faithbridge leverage technology to enhance ministry effectiveness, with an emphasis on lighting and staging. This role spans departments to provide AVL production solutions for the entire church.

Purpose

To provide high quality and excellent service, with the right heart attitude, offering production and lighting support and staging designs to all ministries. In doing so, the mission and vision of Faithbridge can be carried out at all times. To create opportunities for transformational encounters with God through visual environments. To be a source of technical knowledge to improve and leverage current AVL production systems. Some project management leadership will be required.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Produce quality visual experiences on Sunday mornings via lighting and staging elements
  • Provide technical advice and AVL support for various ministries throughout the week
  • Participate in Audio, Video & Lighting production project design and implementation of current and future technical needs
  • Design and build elements for staging
  • Manage and organize the inventory and repair of lighting and stage equipment
  • Work alongside production team to produce various events
  • Must be flexible to work a minimum of 8 hours every Sunday and day/evening hours during the week
Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train and equip other people that have lighting skills and/or interest at Faithbridge
  • Research, educate and stay up to date with current technology, systems, and developments in the production and lighting world
  • Maintain organized spaces for gear and cabling

Skills & Educational Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of various lighting elements (Hog consoles, Vista console, lighting fixtures, rigging, software)
  • Understanding of lighting signal flow and system setup
  • Understanding of basic building concepts and tool operation
  • Must be capable of connecting, maintaining, and technical troubleshooting in the areas of AVL systems
  • Must be proficient in production infrastructure and operations
  • Must be able to install/hang lights
  • Ability to operate a lift (boom and scissor) or willingness to be trained and certified
  • Understanding of musical concepts appreciated
  • Willingness to learn audio and video concepts as needed
  • Familiarity with various production software and equipment appreciated (ProPresenter, Blackmagic ATEM switchers, Yamaha and Midas M32 audio consoles)
  • Must be familiar with computer applications that directly relate to work including various information systems (networking, database, etc.)
  • Must be biblically sound and exhibit personal conduct that reflects positively on the integrity of the church
  • Self-motivated and able to work and make smart decisions under pressure
  • Must be able to work with and lead volunteers
  • Must be trustworthy and confidential
  • Highly creative problem solver with a positive attitude
  • College or work-related trade school degree in the field of information technology and/or production systems
