Making Faith Work

Adversity, trials, problems, giants, and Goliaths are a constant part of every person’s life. Pastor Ken brings a fresh perspective that when we put faith into action, we triumph over our trials from James 1:1-12 in part one of our new series.

Have you ever felt blindsided by temptation? No matter how hard we try to hide, it seems like the world, the flesh, and the devil always seem to find us. In part two of our series, Pastor Dan teaches how the devil tempts us and to find victory (James 1:13-18).

There is a big difference between hearing something and doing something. Seems like a no-brainer, but think about how many times you have heard someone give you advice, and you give your immediate response is, "Yeah, I've heard that." After hearing it, did you do it? Ben Stuart talks about what true Christianity is and a faith which has integrity.

Do you show favoritism? God is not impressed with a man’s social status or financial portfolio. God only looks at one thing: what is in a man’s heart. Bible Teacher Steve Carter shows how we can look at others through God’s point of view and not through our worldly one – everybody matters to Jesus, and everyone should matter to us, too

Have you ever said something that you wish you hadn't? Or have you have been on the receiving end of a biting or thoughtless comment? Do you remember how hurt you felt? Pastor Ken talks about how destructible the unbridled tongue can be and shows how we can diagnose the spiritual health of our tongue.

Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. (James 4:5-6)

Phony faith won’t give you security in the midst of a global pandemic. Phony faith can’t heal generations of broken cross-cultural relationships either. So what does real faith look like? Pastor Dan teaches that when we live a life of faith in the unconditional love of Jesus, a life of good works for His glory and the good of others is revealed.

"You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did." (James 2:22)

Do you sometimes find yourself treating God like Google Maps – you’ve already determined your destination but just need guidance on how to get there? Continuing our series "Making Faith Work", Pastor Dan teaches that to fear the Lord is to let Him determine the destination as well as the directions on exactly how to get there and that wisdom is found in only one place: in the hands of our loving Father.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5)

What matters the most to you? Climbing the corporate ladder or buying that beautiful, huge house? You may be even asking yourself what’s the point in all this? When we allow ourselves to be influenced by the world, ultimately, our relationship with God will be severed. Pastor Ken teaches what matters the most – that relationship with God is, at the core, the answer to that age old question of what the point of it all is.

Who's in the driver seat? You or God? So often we move at such a fast pace, we sometimes find ourselves in the driver's seat at the helm in full control of our life and asking God to get on our plan and bless it. Bible Teacher Steve Carter teaches we should be leaning into God's plan for our life and let Him lead, direct, and guide our life.
