Bible Teacher Steve Carter opens 1 Corinthians 16 with an avocado tree. One seed, patiently tended, produces nothing its first year—then thirty avocados, then hundreds, then thousands, for up to four hundred years. That’s the kingdom vision Paul is after when he tells the Corinthians to set aside a portion of their income, consistently, week after week. Steve walks the church through five stages of generosity—never given, initial gift, consistent giver, growing in financial knowledge, estate planning—and makes the case that biblical stewardship isn’t just about this week’s offering; it’s about what you leave behind. Generosity, like an avocado tree, grows slowly—and then outlives you. The invitation is simple: figure out where you are, and take one step forward.
